UAE authorities have given clear guidelines on the rules to be followed while traveling in a car during the COVID-19 pandemic. If you are traveling with your family or friends there is a strict rule that needs to be followed with regards to the number of occupancies acceptable in a vehicle at a time.
The National Emergency and Crisis Management Authority (NCEMA) has issued guidelines regarding the precautions to be taken during the pandemic.
The rules include the restriction of car occupancies to three people at a time except in the case of family. It is compulsory to wear a mask if more than one person is traveling in the car.
In the case of big commercial vehicles NCEMA has advised to maintain a two-seat gap, the operators are expected to ensure that the passengers wear masks as well.
According to the NCEMA WEQAYA hotline, anyone found violating the regulations, social distancing measures in cars and commercial vehicles will attract a fine of Dh 3,000 or more. People found without a mask either within the car or outside their apartments will also invite similar fines.
