The UAE authorities have eased the rules related to wearing masks, these rules are applicable across the country except in Dubai. As far as Dubai is considered they have a separate set of COVID-19 guidelines.

The relaxed rules and regulations in the six emirates(except Dubai) include the following: As per the Ministry of Health and Prevention, mentioned below are instances when a person is required not to wear a mask, they are as follows:

When a person is at the beach or by the pool. When he/she is exercising outside. Inside a car with people from the same household. While undergoing medical treatment. While undergoing a diagnosis. When a person is alone in an indoor place. When he/she is at a barbershop or salon. People can remove the mask while eating in a restaurant, but they have to put it back while walking in the restaurant. People are allowed to remove masks while having snacks or drinks in the cinema hall but they need to put them back after eating the food.

For all the other cases people are required to wear masks. Anyone found not wearing masks can receive fines worth Dh 3,000.


Dubai COVID-19 Rules and Regulations


As far as Dubai is concerned, its authorities have implemented easing the strict COVID -19 regulations on grounds of reducing the number of COVID cases. People are allowed to remove masks temporary for certain conditions they are as follows:

  • While doing exercise

  • While driving a car alone or with people from the same family.

  • During examinations or performing specific treatments like eyes, dental, nose throats, and so on.

  • While eating in restaurants and cinema halls. These are temporary permissions and are applicable only at the time of eating the food. People should wear masks immediately after consuming the food.

In all other cases masks are necessary and if found without one could result in huge fines. It has to be noted that most health insurance policy in UAE will cover COVID-19 testing and treating expenses hence if you have a symptom do not hesitate to consult a doctor.


Exceptions for Not Wearing Masks


There are certain exceptions for people with regards to wearing masks, these exceptions are mentioned below :

  • Children below six years of age.

  • People suffering from cognitive, intellectual, or sensory disorders find it difficult to communicate and or breathe while wearing a mask.

  • If a person suffers from sensory triggering due to wearing the mask he/she need not wear a mask in public or private places. A medical report should be furnished in this case when requested by the appropriate authority.

  • People with supplemental oxygen requirements are exempt from wearing masks. He/she needs to produce medical documents to prove the same.
