Abu Dhabi has eased various restrictions for vaccinated travelers traveling to the emirates. The new developments are a result of falling COVID-19 cases in the emirate. From September 5th onwards vaccinated travelers are no longer required to quarantine in the emirates, this was announced by Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Management Committee for the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Ever since international travel was allowed just like any other country, international travelers need to be in quarantine after arriving in the emirates. But now, the UAE has recognized certain internationally recognized vaccines and people who have taken these vaccines are considered a less threat to the country.
Abu Dhabi has categorized countries into two lists, one is the green list and those countries not part of the green list fall under other destinations. Let us look in details of the travel requirements for people traveling from the green country list and other destinations list:
Green Country List
As per the latest update available to us, the green country list is further classified into two: vaccinated green list arrivals and non-vaccinated green list arrivals. Let us look what is the difference in procedure for people falling under both classifications in the green list:
Vaccinated Arrivals from Green List Country
The traveler must have a negative PCR test result taken 48 hours before boarding the aircraft.
The traveler needs to take a PCR test on arrival as well as a follow-up PCR test on the 6th day in the emirates. The biggest advantage is that the passenger need not be quarantined when arriving in Abu Dhabi.
Non-vaccinated Arrivals from Green List Country
Before boarding the flight to Abu Dhabi the passenger needs to show a negative PCR test taken 48 hours before boarding the flight.
The traveler is required to take a PCR test on arrivals as well as on the 6th and 9th day in the emirates. The passenger need not be quarantined when arriving in Abu Dhabi.
Passengers from other Destinations
As mentioned earlier, the passengers coming from a non green list country have to follow the rules mentioned below while arriving and residing in Abu Dhabi.
Vaccinated Passengers from other Destinations
The traveler needs to present a negative PCR test result that was taken 48 hours before boarding the aircraft.
The traveler needs to take a PCR test on arrival as well. The vaccinated Passengers from other Destinations are also required to take a PCR test on the 4th and 8th days.
Non-vaccinated Arrivals from other Destinations
Before boarding the flight to Abu Dhabi the passenger needs to show a negative PCR test taken 48 hours before boarding the flight.

COVID-19 Treatments in UAE
In case if a resident is diagnosed with COVID-19, he/she can cover the cost of the treatments with medical insurance in Abu Dhabi. Many health insurance providers in the UAE are now offering COVID-19 as an inclusive item in their individual health insurance products.
For the very few that do not offer the same, the customers usually have the option to ask for an add-on cover to protect themselves and or their families from the huge cost of COVID-19 treatments in the UAE. That being said, all the critical cases of COVID-19 treatments are now offered free of charge by many emirates, hence making the life of UAE residents tension-free.
