Ajman, one of the seven emirates in the United Arab Emirates, recently witnessed two separate fire incidents, one in a residential tower and the other in an industrial area. However, thanks to the quick and coordinated efforts of the police and civil defense teams, the damage was minimized, and no major loss of life or property was reported.
The first fire incident occurred in a residential tower in the Louloua residential complex in Al Rashidiya 1 on Friday. The civil defense teams, in cooperation with the Ajman police, were able to control the fire and evacuate all the tenants of the tower. The flames were completely contained and extinguished, followed by conducting cooling operations.
Major General Sheikh Sultan Bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ajman Police, supervised the distinguishing and evacuation operations in person. He stated that the fire caused the suffocation of nine people. These people received the necessary medical treatment at the scene by the National Ambulance, while two people with moderate injuries were transferred to Sheikh Khalifa Hospital for further treatment. According to the Commander-in-Chief, the fire that occurred in the residential tower also resulted in damage to the outer surface of the building. The fire started on one side of the facade and spread to multiple apartments within the tower.
In the second incident, a massive fire erupted in a lubricants factory in the industrial area of Ajman at 3:30 am on Friday. The fire gutted the factory, a residential building, a publishing house, and a number of warehouses and vehicles that were at the site. However, firefighting teams from Sharjah, Dubai, Umm Al Quwain, and Ajman were able to control the fire with the support of the Ajman Police. The firefighting operations were carried out in the presence and follow-up of Major General Sheikh Sultan Bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ajman Police, Brigadier Abdullah Saif Al Matrooshi, Director General of Police Operations at Ajman Police, and Colonel Raed Obaid Al Za’abi, Director General of Ajman Civil Defense.
The timely and efficient actions of the police and civil defense teams in controlling both incidents prevented any major loss of life or property damage. The Ajman police have urged residents to take all necessary precautions to avoid fire incidents, especially during the winter season when heaters and other electrical appliances are widely used.
Fire incidents in high-rise buildings are not uncommon in the UAE. However, the government has taken several steps to improve the safety of residents in these buildings. Despite the initiatives made by the government, residents must take their own precautions to ensure their safety. The Ajman police have urged residents to avoid overloading electrical sockets, regularly check their electrical appliances, and switch off appliances when not in use. They have also advised residents to avoid smoking in bed or leaving burning candles unattended.

In conclusion, the timely and efficient actions of the police and civil defense teams have prevented any major loss of life or property damage in the recent fire incidents in Ajman. The government has taken several initiatives to improve the safety of residents in high-rise buildings, and residents must also take their own precautions to avoid fire incidents.
