Abu Dhabi police issued six rules of safety measures for motorists to follow when they run into a problem when driving at night. They also shared a detailed video to guide them on what to do efficiently at night.

Unexpectedly stopping a vehicle on a highway is a risky driving violation that could result in serious accidents. This is why there are regulations that must be followed when a driver has to repair a broken-down vehicle; failure to do so is a violation that carries a Dh500 fine.

The Abu Dhabi Police introduce six rules that can keep motorists safe whenever they get into car trouble on the road in their most recent traffic awareness video, in which the authorities describe the risks involved with this violation. Now let’s go through the six rules!

Move your vehicle off the road and use designated emergency areas. 

You may also use the right shoulder of the road. 

Use hazard lights. 

Place a reflective triangle behind the vehicle to alert other drivers. 

Step out of the vehicle for your safety. 

Call the emergency hotline at 999 to request assistance.

The police have already issued warnings to drivers, advising them not to stop for any reason on the highway. According to federal traffic laws, this offense carries a Dh1,000 fine and six black points.

The surveillance footage revealed a 4WD that abruptly stopped with its danger lights on. 4WD got avoided by some vehicles on the road by switching lanes several times, but one of them couldn’t stop in time and crashed. The police emphasized that drivers should immediately ring 999 for immediate assistance if they are in any trouble and are unable to move their vehicles for any reason.
